Backtoast

Backtesting

Best backtesting software for 2026

Checked

Backtoast is first, because you describe the strategy in plain language and a pass pays you from profit on real trading. The tools below are where you build and simulate. QuantConnect is the strongest of those if you write code. TradingView is the one people already have open.

1Backtoast

You pay $99 for two full tests of your own strategy, and a pass is an offer of 30% of the profit Backtoast makes trading it with its own money. Stocks, options, futures, forex and crypto are in the same test.

2QuantConnect

QuantConnect is the closest rigorous tool if you can write Python or C#. The free tier backtests without a cap, the documented fill and fee models are the best in this list, and the data is free of survivorship bias back to 1998. Walk-forward is something you build yourself. Researcher seats and compute nodes are paid.

3TradingView

TradingView is the chart. Pine Script backtests stocks, futures, forex and crypto, and options are not in the tester. A longer history is on Premium, $69.95 a month billed yearly. Commission and slippage are settings you type in.

4Wealth-Lab

Wealth-Lab has the broadest built-in robustness of the desktop tools, including walk-forward and a Monte Carlo extension, and it runs on Windows, with end-of-day data for Nasdaq 100, S&P 500 and DAX members, delisted ones included, in the subscription. A subscription is $49.95 a month.

5StrategyQuant

StrategyQuant generates strategies for you and then stress-tests them, with real-tick modes and nine Monte Carlo types. The lifetime license starts at $1,290, and options are not included.

6TrendSpider

TrendSpider lets you describe conditions without code. The backtest takes one cost number, enters and exits the whole position, and does not run a walk-forward or a Monte Carlo. Annual list prices run from $54 to $214 a month.

NinjaTrader is a free futures platform, Build Alpha is a Windows generator with no trial, MetaTrader 5 comes free with a broker, Composer backtests daily stocks and ETFs, and TradeZella is a journal.

Product facts are from each company's pages, checked 23 October 2026. How a chart tester compares with a full test is how to backtest on TradingView.
