Backtoast

TradingView alternative

Checked

Backtoast is the alternative when you want the strategy tested, with a payout from real trading if it passes. TradingView is where most people already look at price, and its strategy tester is a feature on that chart. Options cannot be backtested there.

1Backtoast

You pay $99 for two full tests of your own strategy, and a pass is an offer of 30% of the profit Backtoast makes trading it with its own money.

2TradingView

TradingView's free plan charts, and Pine Script can simulate stocks, futures, forex and crypto. You type the commission and the slippage yourself. A longer history needs Premium. Options are not in the backtester. If you want a chart, stay there. If you want to know whether the strategy is worth trading with real money, run it on Backtoast.

TrendSpider is the other chart-first tool here, with no-code conditions.

Testing

The tester only sees each bar's open, high, low and close, so it assumes price went from the open to the nearer extreme, then to the other one, then to the close. On Premium and Ultimate, bar magnifier (now called bar detalization in the settings) fills orders from lower-timeframe data instead. Commission can be a percent of the trade or a fixed amount per contract or per order, and slippage is a number of ticks added to market and stop fills.

Deep Backtesting, the Premium feature behind the longer history, runs up to two million bars, and its results show in the report and not on the chart. A normal chart loads 5,000 intraday bars on Basic, 10,000 on Essential and Plus, 20,000 on Premium, 25,000 on Expert and 40,000 on Ultimate. There's no built-in walk-forward or Monte Carlo, and strategy trading is limited to backtesting, so a strategy can't place orders with your broker.

Pricing

Billed yearly, Essential is $14.95 a month, Plus is $34.95, Expert is $119.95 and Ultimate is $239.95, and Basic is free with no card.

TradingView's prices and backtest limits are from its own pages, checked 23 and 31 October 2026. How that tester compares with a full test is how to backtest on TradingView.
