Backtoast

Composer

Checked

Composer lets you build a stocks-and-ETFs strategy without code, and SoFi bought it in June 2026. The backtest uses daily closes and a single small slippage assumption. Crypto was removed in January 2026. Backtoast is first if you want more than a daily stock rotation, and a payout from real trading when the strategy passes.

1Backtoast

You pay $99 for two full tests of your own strategy, and a pass is an offer of 30% of the profit Backtoast makes trading it with its own money.

2Composer

A free Starter plan exists, and the backtest has a date you can hold back. You build a strategy, which Composer calls a symphony, from no-code blocks, or ask Trade with AI to build and test one in plain English. There is no tick data, and no futures or forex, because it is a portfolio tool. Options trading opened in August 2025, but the backtest doesn't cover options.

TrendSpider is the other no-code tool here, built around the chart.

Testing

The daily prices are adjusted for dividends and splits, and Composer says they don't represent real quotes from any point in the day. Slippage defaults to 1 basis point, which is 0.01%, and you can raise it. Regulatory fees are included, and you can add the cost of your subscription too. Live trades go out in a trading period from 3:45 to 4:00 PM Eastern, close to the prices the backtest uses, and on Pro you can ask support to start at 3:55 instead. Live trading runs through a Composer Securities brokerage account.

Pricing

Every plan can build and backtest unlimited strategies, and the plans differ in how many run live: one on Starter, five on Advanced and up to 500 on Pro, which adds API access to pull data, run backtests and trade. Business is priced on a call.

Facts are from Composer's own pages, checked 23 and 31 October 2026.
