Backtoast is first if the point is to test a strategy and get paid when it passes. TrendSpider is a no-code charting tool, and its strategy tester takes one cost number, trades the whole position in or out, and has no walk-forward.

1Backtoast

You pay $99 for two full tests of your own strategy, and a pass is an offer of 30% of the profit Backtoast makes trading it with its own money.

2TrendSpider

TrendSpider covers stocks, ETFs, futures, forex and crypto, and it can't backtest options or indices. You build rules without code, and Sidekick is the add-on that writes with you. The backtest charges one trade cost, cannot scale a position in and out, and does not run a walk-forward or a Monte Carlo. List price on the annual plan runs from $54 to $214 a month, and Sidekick is extra.

Composer is the other no-code tool here, for stock and ETF strategies on daily closes.

Testing

The tester checks your conditions at the candle close and enters at the next candle's open, and the same help page says a backtest assumes perfect execution and zero slippage, so the trade cost you set has to cover both. Each test runs on one timeframe, a higher-timeframe condition needs a custom indicator, and longs and shorts have to be separate strategies. History can go back more than 50 years where the data exists, and the plan decides how fine and how long a backtest can be: 2-hour bars and 2,000 candles on Standard, 5-minute bars and 10,000 on Premium, and 1-minute bars with 20,000 on Enhanced or 30,000 on Advanced. Group Strategy Tester runs a strategy across up to 500 symbols at once, and a tested strategy can become a bot that alerts you or routes orders to a supported broker.

Pricing

Billed monthly, the four plans are $89, $149, $199 and $349. The 14-day trial costs a fee that isn't refunded, $19 on every plan when we checked, and a backtest depth of 20,000 candles on Standard or Premium is $39 a month extra. Sidekick gives 25 free messages a month on every plan, and its paid tiers are $49, $129 and $349 a month.
