Backtoast

Apex Trader Funding

Apex is a real futures firm, and the funded Performance Account is a simulator that closes after six payouts. Backtoast is first if you want a pass to pay you from profit on real trading, with no payout cap on a sim.

1Backtoast

You pay $99 for two full tests of your own strategy, and a pass is an offer of 30% of the profit Backtoast makes trading it with its own money.

2Apex

You can pass an Apex evaluation in one day, and the fee is a one-time charge for 30 days. If you fail, you buy another evaluation, because there is no reset. A saved copy lists the 50K intraday evaluation at $249 and the end-of-day version at $550, before a discount advertised at up to 90%, so the checkout price is not confirmed. On those versions you also pay a fee to activate the funded account within 7 days of passing, and the versions with no activation fee list at $490 intraday and $1,190 end-of-day. Payouts from the simulated account are 100% yours, up to six, and then that account closes. A live account is an invitation, and Apex publishes no pass rate. These rules are from saved copies through September 2026 and may have changed.

Topstep publishes how many funded traders it moved to a live account, 0.71% in 2025.

Rules

A 50K evaluation asks for $3,000 profit with a $2,000 drawdown, and there's no consistency rule and no minimum number of days. On the end-of-day version the floor, the balance that ends the evaluation, only moves at each close, but if your balance touches it at any moment in the session the evaluation fails, and a $1,000 daily loss limit pauses you for the rest of the day. The intraday version has no daily limit, and its floor trails your highest balance including open profit, so a winning trade that reverses still uses up drawdown. Apex's list of banned activities rules out bots and algorithms, copying trades with other traders, hedging and holding a position through the close, and it allows news trading for your normal strategy.

Payouts

On a 50K Performance Account, the simulated funded account, each payout needs 5 qualifying days of at least $250 profit on the end-of-day version or $200 on intraday, and no single day can be half or more of the profit since your last payout. The balance has to stay above a safety net of the drawdown plus $100, which is $52,100 on a 50K, for the life of the account. The minimum payout is $500 and the first is capped at $1,500. If Apex moves you to live, every sim account closes, and the live account starts at $0 with a 90/10 split and daily payouts.

Figures are from saved copies of Apex's own pages, the price page from 17 August 2026, the rules through September 2026 and the list of banned activities from March 2026.
